Most of the visitors who come to Rwanda appreciate the Tourism farming program as a tool of conservation to reduce human-wildlife conflict. However, the farmers have benefited a lot from farming activities. We promote sustainable agriculture by satisfying human food and enhance environmental quality and the resource base sustaining the economic viability of agriculture within the Virunga massif.
Sustainable agriculture is encouraged to farmers to implement appropriate land reform policy such as land consolidation on a crop hence boosting food production. Farmers will be encouraged and supplied with pesticides and fertilizers as well as new production methods. The main importance of sustainable agriculture in community development is to improve on people’s diet hence reducing malnutrition in rural areas. This also will boost the productivity in agriculture sector since local manure are used hence self sustenance in terms of food and the surplus will be sold to generate more revenue to the local community hence improving their standards of living. We are committed to meet the challenges of maintaining long term adequate food security under challenges posed by climate change thus economically developing the community.
